Day 96 - December 27

Met up with Craig at 12:00pm in the CBD for lunch. He had sushi and I had good ol Pie Face.
Mmmmmm.... Pie face....
Mashy peas & potato with gravy? Yes please!!
After we had lunch, we headed to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to watch Australia vs India. This was the first time I've seen a cricket game.

CLICK HERE for a sample of all the things that happen in a cricket game.
(This is not the game I was at)

It's kinda like baseball: there are 2 teams - 1 team bats, the other team pitches (called bowling in this case). When the bowler bowls the ball, he's trying to hit the wickets behind the batter (called the batsman). The batsman is trying to hit the ball as far as he can to score points. When the ball is hit, the batsman and the second batsman (standing opposite about 20 metres away) run back and forth between 2 creases before the bowling team gets the ball back to the wickets.

In this video you will see the bowler on the right hand side running, then bowling. Then you will see the batsman hit the ball. Once the ball is hit, he and the other batsman (standing opposite) will run back and forth twice to score 2 points.

To get a little more in depth: If the batsman hits a ball into the air and the bowlin team catches it in mid-air, that batsman is out. If the batsman hits the ball and starts running between the lines and the bowling team throws the ball back to the wickets before the batsman reaches the line, he is out.

Scoring points: Once the ball is hit into the air, he and the other batsman coordinate when to run for points. If the ball is hit and rolls out of the outer boundry, he automatically scores 4 points. If the ball is hit and lands in the outer boundry, he automatically scores 6 points.

This may all sound exciting, but it's not. The game was really boring. Of the 3 hours we were there, they only got 2 batsman out. In the 3 hours, 2 batsman scored over 200 runs!

The condom balloon provided some entertainment.

The stadium also did the wave. It was awesome! 52,858 in attendance (it can fit 100,000 people). Totally beats out the Saddledome wave by a lot! When you hear the booo's in the crowd, it's because the wave goes by the part where the rich people sit. Kinda like the lower bowl of the Saddledome. They boo them because they don't really get into the game itself.
Let's get out of here and watch paint dry instead.
After 3 hours, we had enough. We left for dinner. We passed by an awesome street!
The La stands for Lane.
Typical American, always trying to screw other countries.
I bought a Groupon voucher for a new restaurant called Rodhi Ghar: Asian Fusion Cuisine on Lygon Street. The coupon was $39 for $110 of food. It pretty much was a pick an appetizer, main, and dessert for 2 people for the price of $39.

I picked the Rodhi salad: warm salad of tangi pieces of chicken with asian herbs, the Crispy Duck Orange: caramelized roasted duck with orange ginger flavoured garnished with fresh coriander, asian greens, and rice on the side, RG delight dessert: homemade ice cream, mango flavoured with pistachio and shredded coconut spread.
Very delicious dish!
Dessert was okay. I like how they served it to me with the spoon in the ice cream.
After dinner, which actually took about an hour and a half (the salad took an hour to come out, I think they grow their own salads in the back), we decided to watch Mission Impossible 3. We had to sit in the front row as the movie was pretty much sold out. Not sure if I mentioned before, but all the seats are assigned when you buy them. The movie turned out to be pretty good. This should help Tom Cruise a little bit....maybe.
